CIANA to be Honored at NY Liberty

On September 15, CIANA will be honored as Nonprofit of the Night at the New York Liberty basketball game.

The Brooklyn-based women’s basketball team typically honors different non-profit organizations at several games each season, from promotional advertising to shout-outs on the JumboTron during the game. These spotlights bring awareness to the honorees and the pressing community needs that they address.

The September 15 afternoon game will highlight CIANA and the immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees we work with. While the public is generally aware of the influx of migrants arriving in New York City, there are growing concerns within the community about how to effectively address this situation. Organizations like CIANA are working tirelessly on the ground to assist these individuals and help resolve related issues and it is important to highlight the hard work they do in our communities.

From holistic social services to English classes to work permits, CIANA puts new arrivals on track to independence. This keeps them off the streets, out of overcrowded shelters, and away from criminal behavior that only feeds the harmful narratives being spread about them.

Supporting immigrant-serving organizations does not contribute to the problems that migrants allegedly cause; rather, communal generosity affords anyone the opportunity to take part in improving the lives of new arrivals, which in turn improves the quality of life for all New Yorkers.

The NY Liberty have a special ticket offer to generate support for CIANA and our mission. For every $69.15 ticket bought for the game at this link, $30 will be donated to CIANA to benefit the services we offer to help immigrants and asylum seekers settle in the United States.

Although the game is in September, the last day to buy tickets with the CIANA donation offer is August 23. Tickets are still available, but they’re running out. Buy yours today!
